Our story

Feeding Chicago's kids the right way.

What began as one small kitchen with a big belief — that every child deserves a fresh, honest meal — now serves around 4,000 happy plates a day across the Chicago area.

2015Where it started
How it began

A kitchen built around one promise.

ChildEats started with a simple frustration shared by parents and teachers alike: kids were being offered processed, reheated food that no grown-up would choose for their own family. We knew children deserved better — real ingredients, cooked with care, every single morning.

So we opened a licensed kitchen, hired real chefs, and partnered with registered dietitians to design menus around how children actually grow. No shortcuts, no mystery ingredients — just wholesome food kids genuinely love to eat.

A decade later, that same promise drives everything: fresh today, delivered on time, and made for the little humans who matter most.

Our journey

Ten years, one direction

  1. 2015

    One kitchen, one classroom

We cooked our first daily meals for a single neighborhood daycare in Chicago.

  2. 2018

    Dietitian-designed menus

We brought registered dietitians on board to build rotating, age-appropriate menus.

  3. 2021

    200+ partner programs

Schools and daycares across the region trusted us with their daily meal service.

  4. Today

    ~4,000 meals a day

Fresh, allergy-aware plates cooked each morning and delivered across Chicago.

0 Meals served every day

Around four thousand children eat a ChildEats meal — today.

Behind that number is a routine we never break: produce sourced fresh, proteins that are antibiotic-free, allergens carefully labeled, and every plate cooked the morning it's served. When you feed thousands of kids daily, consistency isn't a nice-to-have — it's the whole job.

Our mission

Real food, made simple, for every child.

Our mission is to make healthy, dependable meals the easy choice for the families and programs raising Chicago's next generation — built on four things we never compromise.

The standards behind every plate
  1. 01

    Food we'd feed our own

If it wouldn't make our own children's plate, it doesn't make theirs. That's the whole standard.

  2. 02

    Nutrition first

Every menu is dietitian-designed for real growth — balanced, age-appropriate and genuinely nourishing.

  3. 03

    Safety without compromise

Licensed kitchen, careful allergen handling and documented quality control on every single batch.

  4. 04

    Reliable for real life

Busy parents and stretched programs can count on us — on time, every morning, no surprises.
